What's New Orangedox 2p0

We’ve been busy at Orangedox over the past few months listening to our customers and coming up with a completely redesigned version of our product. In the next couple of weeks you can expect some of these big changes

New Logo and Branding

Our original logo and branding was created by our co-founder Chad and while it has served us well over the past couple of years we figured it was time for an update. Above was the winning design, we hope you like it!

Redesigned Interface

One thing you immediately will notice about this new release is the completely redesigned interface. This was to help accommodate the new functionality changes and to make things easier to find in the product. You’ll also notice that we’ve removed the file and folder metrics when viewing your Dropbox of Google Drive and instead have now wrapped those into our customer centric metrics. More on that below!

Customer Centric Metrics

Orangedox started out as a simple download counter for Dropbox back in 2014, but over the past few of years it has grown to include so much more. In order to reflect this we’re now offering a much more tailored view of your file & folder share metrics: instead of including metric roll-ups for every file and folder in your Dropbox or Google Drive we’ve moved to a more people centric view. This view will help provide you with more detailed metrics on who is viewing your material rather than just what files were downloaded / previewed. We know it may be a little bit difficult navigating to find a particular file that was shared, so we will be aiming to add a more comprehensive search capability in the near future.

Email Metrics

When emailing your shared material we’ll now ask you to enter who you’re emailing it to. This will be used by our viewer prediction algorithm that will help you understand who viewed what; the more you use Orangedox the smarter our predictions become!

Now you’ll be able to see how many people viewed your material as well as who they are and if we don’t know they are yet who we’ll just give them a placeholder name like “Polite Star”. Be sure to check back because we’re always making new connections!

Web Metrics

When you publish shared material to your website, social media or via a newsletter you’ll want to see different metrics than if you sent it via email. To reflect this we will now show you these high level metrics so you can see how your shared material has been performing over time.

More Custom Branding Options

We’ve listed to our Business customers and have now added a whole variety of custom branding options for your document shared portal, which we now call your Hub. These options include larger logos and splash pages as well as the ability to showcase your folders of material in a preview-able blog type format, which we call an engage card.

Packages & Personalization

When sharing material we now allow you to share custom packages rather than just a single file or folder. This means you can pick and choose the content from all over your Dropbox or Google Drive account and display it in one shared package.

Also when you create your own custom branded viewer we’ll allow you to enable personalized messages. These are messages that you can tailor when sharing with each of your customers and include your profile information (picture, name, email & other contact information) as well as a personal message to them. Think of this as a personalized note that you’ve attached to your package of material that will help your customer understand that you’re a human who cares.

What about my previous shared files & folders?

No to worry, all your existing shared folders and files will still continue to function as they have before. Any existing links will also show up in the new interface as a “web link” unless it was shared via our Gmail plugin.

Plan Name Changes

You may notice that your Orangedox plan name has changed. Here’s a summary of those changes

  1. Basic (Free) becomes Personal Trial
  2. Pro becomes Personal
  3. Business & Enterprise remain the same

Where did all my free share links go?

As a previous basic user you’ll notice right away that you’ll have fewer free share links: 10 instead of the original 50. We did this as our basic account has now transitioned into a free trial of our Personal plan giving you all the functionality of Personal (previous Pro) with the only limit being how much you can share at once (10 shares).
